Community Development

The lack of non formal educational spaces in marginalized communities has been creating a huge gap and exacerbated learning disparities for Nepali children and youths. Growing up I had first hand experience of these realities and struggled to access quality learning resources, opportunities and platforms.

Our Story

In 2020 C19 shut everything down. In response to this, I started the Learning Fortress so that youth and children in my community would not have to face these same obstacles. Children from rural communities were not able to access education in any form due to the digital divide. Since then The Learning Fortress has been working to deliver non-formal education in critical ways that celebrate creativity , agency and local identity.

The Learning

Fortress

Learning Fortress connects with local youth through a participatory approach, working with the community and providing spaces for different age groups. Our initiatives celebrate and support co-discovery with children of all ages and stages of experience, from childhood through adolescence.

Child-Centric Engagement

At Learning Fortress, we prioritise the voices, interests, and inspirations of local children, allowing them to actively shape their educational experiences.

Holistic Development

A Holistic Lens: We work with vibrant local communities. Our lens takes a holistic approach to development that recognizes the gifts already present in our local communities. This is about celebrating each person and their unique strengths and contributions.
